Birding Ethics
Promote the welfare of birds and other wildlife.
- Observe and photograph birds without disturbing them in significant ways.
- Limit the use of recordings and other methods of attracting birds.
- Avoid chasing or repeatedly flushing birds.
- Keep an appropriate distance from nests so as not to disturb them.
Respect wildlife habitat.
- Stay on the Interurban Trail right-of-way or designated park trails.
- Leave all habitat in as good a condition as you found it or better.
Show consideration for other viewers.
- Yield to pedestrians.
- Respect the rights of fellow birders and other outdoor users.
- Practice common courtesy.
- Teach others birding ethics by word and example.
Observe all laws, rules, and regulations.
- Follow pet leash and waste disposal regulations.
- Respect private property and do not trespass.
